The community of San Pablo La Laguna is situated in one of the economically poorest regions of Guatemala, and characterized by Mayan ethnicity and culture.

Tribe Lab, along with San Pablo officials, took upon themselves the mission of designing houses for 20 of the families which have most need in the village.

All the houses were designed with natural and locally sourced materials, and with a strong emphasis on participatory design and construction processes. These houses were a catalyst to test locally found materials such as coffee bricks and avocado seeds in construction for the first time.
